– Community Baby Quilt Relay – Please come help with our outreach projects. Bring yourself; machine supplies, materials or help cut and iron. Let’s see if we can set a record for number of baby quilts created that day! There will be three patterns: “99 Squares”, “Sweet Dreams” and the new pattern.

March 7, 2015 – General Membership Meeting
– Julie’s Star Spangled Celebration Quilt Challenge due. Make something using your own interpretation of “Red, White & Blue”, or “Stars” or “Being American.” Grand prize is a treasure chest filled with goodies.
– Membership dues for year 2015 are due.
– Mary will demo the March Block of the Month called “Fractured Blocks” before the meeting around 9:10 am. If you bring two 5″ dark squares and two 5″ strong medium squares we can sew them together and do the cuts and you will be on your way to completing your March Block of the Month. Pattern is in the Newsletter page. Note: a strong contrast will produce a vibrant block. It does not ‘pop’ with lights or neutrals.
– Skinny Quarters for March are strong darks or bright mediums.

June 20, 2015 – Sandra Bruce’s Material Matrix Design Class ($25 + $3 supplies fee to the instructor) 9am to 3pm

Sandra will teach her 6-hour Material Matrix Design technique which involves interpreting a gridded photograph with fabric. This process is different than other gridded photograph methods in that it involves piecing and a loose, representational style inspired by the painter, Chuck Close. We will be using the “Sew Ready” (above left photo). A supply list was given in previous meetings. Read more info on her website. We will have a potluck lunch, so bring a dish to share.

– Marketplace Workshop – 9am: Calling all quilters. Please plan to bring your best sewing skills to the Marketplace Workshop to help create items to sell at our amazing Quilt Show. We have prepared kits which include precut fabric and instructions to create pincushions, thread catchers, aprons, tote bags, girl’s dresses and other items. Please bring your machines and basic sewing supplies, wound bobbins in neutral colors (white, black, beige, brown, gray…) and come ready to support our effort by sewing, ironing, cutting, etc. If you don’t bring a machine, there will be some hand sewing to be done as well. We will provide a light lunch and our grateful hearts for your efforts. Please plan to come.

– Kristin won’t be able to stay for the meeting, but she will drop off the supplies so we can have plates, utensils, etc. With limited kitchen staff, please help if you have a hot dish to serve. Generally, we all pitch in with the clean up afterwards.

– Baby Quilt Relay: Please come help with our outreach projects. Bring yourself, machine supplies, materials or help cut and iron. Let’s make it a fun time and churn out those baby quilts. There will be food and prizes. This is our guild wide project to increase the number of baby quilts to be given to new mothers/babies at Sutter Solano and Kaiser Hospital – both in Vallejo.

March 4, 2017 – General Membership Meeting

– Turn in your green “Churn Dash” Block of the Month. Call or e-mail Ann S. if you want to make this block, but didn’t get one of the focus fabric squares. Patterns can be downloaded from the Downloads page.
– Fat Quarter: Florals (Ideal for April’s Block of the Month)
– Linda’s Dresden Plate with a Twist workshop after the general meeting. Please be ready to set up sewing areas after lunch. It looks complicated, but very easy. You will amaze your friends who don’t quilt.

March 18, 2017 – Third Saturday
– Community Outreach: This is an all day workshop where we make pillow cases, doggie jackets, cat beds, placemats. Julie W, our Queen of Pillow Cases, will be leading this workshop.

– Shop Hop/Bus Trip (Cost $35)
– Bus leaves at 9:30am sharp. Please meet at the Senior Center before then.

There will be NO OPEN SEW at the Senior Center on this day.
