DESCRIPTION:Did you ever think you would be able to have that one bag pattern that can carry all those supplies you need for a class? (Except the sewing machine\, of course…) You need cutting mats\, rotary cutters\, square rulers\, fussy cutting rulers\, loooooong rulers… so much stuff that you end up looking like a pack mule just to get in the door! \nWe hope to alleviate that with the help of Linda Wagner\, who will be teaching her bag class to us on Saturday 6/18/22. This bag can tote rulers that are 24-in! There are outside pockets\, inside pockets\, and enough room inside for so many items we can’t catalog them here. You know what though… here is what Linda carries in hers\, and this is JUST in the POCKETS:\n6-1/2 x 24-1/2 ruler\n6 x 18 ruler\n6-1/2 x 12 ruler\n3-1/2 x 12-1/2 ruler\n3-1/2 x 18 rule\nStrip-off ruler\nBlades ruler\nBonnie Hunter Essential Triangle tool\nEasy Companion Angle\nPoint trimmer\nScrapmaster\nCorner cutter\nRotary cutter\nTube Ruler\n6-1/2 square\n4-1/2 square\nEtc.\, etc.\, etc.\, plus you can carry your rotary cutting mats \nFee: $40 for VPQG members \nAs this is an outside teacher we have a minimum requirement for 15 students to make the class “a go.” Sign up before June\, as there will be a bit of homework before the class\, and Linda will be at the June General meeting tell us all about it. DESCRIPTION:If you have been on Pinterest or FB in in the past year it is likely you have seen this pattern by Laura Piland of “Slice of Pi Designs.” She is seeing great success – partnered now with FreeSpirit Fabrics for kits with Kaffe Fassett Collective\, and also with Missouri Star\, who did a tutorial recently. This will be our class for May 2022. This will be a multiple session class. Both sessions are necessary for the class\, plus a bit of “homework” beforehand so we can all progress together. \nSessions will be:\nMay 7th from 12-3pm (AFTER the General meeting)\nMay 21st from 9am to 3pm \nFee is $15 for members and includes pattern. \nBONUS!!!! The pattern size has been adapted for this class and I will be showing it in two sizes: the usual 72×72 or a smaller 45×45. (Jenny Doan can’t give you that…) \nMembers can also add this event to their Facebook calendar.

Pay close attention to the highlighted sections regarding quilt sleeves and acknowledging your LAQs if you use one! \n\n\n\nThe Solano County Fair is back in person this year. SUMMARY:Baby Quilt Work Party
DESCRIPTION:Due to the Bunco Fundraiser being moved to July we are using this Saturday\, April 9th (the date we originally reserved the FDC for Bunco) to hold a Baby Quilt Work Party. It is short notice\, we know\, but we wanted to take advantage of the reservation and help our Wednesday Ladies finish some quilts for our community outreach. We had to cancel our plans for a Baby Quilt Work Party in February due to the FDC closure at the time.  \n\n\n\nSo for this Saturday\, we will not be sewing the tops from kits; we have plenty on hand. The focus is completing the quilts. Steps to do this are: \n\n\n\nPressing the fabricSandwiching tops with batting and backingPinningSewing around the edges (inside out)Turning outTying with yarnTopstitchingSewing labels on\n\n\n\nWe have a number of quilts that already are sandwiched so they need the latter steps.We will have 2-3 ironing boards and irons set up. \n\n\n\nIf you want to do a step involving sewing and you don’t want to bring your machine\, that’s okay. We will have 5-6 machines on hand that you can use. \n\n\n\nWe will have some pins\, but you can bring your own if you prefer. \n\n\n\nThose who wish to tie should bring a large eye needle\, curved needle\, or upholstery needle. We will have a few on hand. We have yarn. \n\n\n\nThere will be coffee/tea and a simple lunch will be provided – a “potato bar” – so we need an approximate headcount for food. \n\n\n\nPlease respond if you will be joining us on Saturday. Doors open at 9am but if you are coming later\, just let us know when you expect to be there. \n\n\n\nWe hope to see you there! \n\n\n\nGiven the amount of space needed for the groupings of tables for the various stations\, we ask that there is no “open sew” at this event.
